Weekly Menu

My last Dinnerly box was delivered this past week and I'm glad HA!  I stop following the recipes awhile ago and just use some of the main food items like veggies in other meals.  I have not been impressed this time around with the service at all and am glad it was through a grant with Nate's on-line school and not something I was personally paying for - but I will say that when I sent a complaint, they credited my account for the items that were bad in that box so the customer service is actually pretty good.

Time slow down!  March is marching in quietly like a lamb but it is still Marching!!!  Uuugg.  I always look forward to the slow months at the beginning of the year but this year has not been slow.

Here's what is on the plan for the coming week:

Friday - Stuffed Shells, Garlic Bread, and green beans

Saturday - I'm supposed to go to a scrapbooking crop but the weather is not looking promising.  Either way my guys will have dinner at my mom's and if I don't get to go I will too!

Sunday - Sunday Swiss Steak, Mashed Potatoes, and Corn

Monday - Beef Drip Sandwiches and Chips

Tuesday: I will be heading to a Mom's Night Out with our homeschool group leaving my guys on their own again.  (Two weeks in a row!) I have spaghetti sauce in the freezer so I'll leave spaghetti for them for dinner.

Wednesday - My guys have youth group and they get served dinner.  I usually eat in the car while I wait for them to be done and have soup at home for Darryl.

Thursday - Swiss Chicken Breast Supreme with stuffing, green beans, and crescent rolls.

Weekly Menu

Can you believe that we are hitting Match this week?  I. can. not.  Unlike most years, this year is NOT dragging.  I'm sure it is because we have had a super mild winter. (Well not this past week . .. )  Last week's entire menu changed.  With an incoming ice storm I knew that our mid-week plans would shift so I ended up needing to cook both Wednesday night for Darryl's birthday and Thursday night - the night we were going to celebrate Darryl's birthday!  It all worked out - just meant getting creative :-)

So, what is the plan for the coming week?  Let me tell you (I know you can't wait HA!)

Friday - We are getting Jet's Pizza!  This is what we were supposed to have Thursday Night - it was Darryl's request for his birthday dinner.  Due to the ice storm, we had to move it until tonight which is perfect because Pizza on a Friday is near perfection.

Saturday - We are heading to my in-laws for the annual February Birthday Party.

Sunday - Zuppa Tuscana Soup (Since I can put it in the crock pot before we leave for church!) and biscuits.

Monday - Chili and Fritos.  We eat in shifts on Mondays so this is a good choice.  Plus the leftovers are great to throw in the freezer for an easy meal on another day.

Tuesday - I'm heading out for dinner with my Sunday School Class.  I'll leave chicken strips and chips for the guys to eat in-between music lessons.

Wednesday - Baked Pork Chops, cheesy potatoes and green beans (Hey, mom - want to come to dinner?)

Thursday - It is time for the community dinner where my guys serve with the youth group.  Darryl will probably eat leftovers as he is usually not home in time to go to the dinner.

Weekly Menu - Back on Track

Oops!  I missed last week.  I was sure I had written it and posted it but I never did!  We did eat though :-)

So, Dinnerly.  It has not been great.  The last box we got was awful.  The sour cream had curdled, the meat smelled awful, the tomatoes were crushed etc.  I sent an e-mail and am stopping the rest of the boxes.  They just have not been good.  Oh well.  I did use as much of the food out of every box that I good - even when I used them in different recipes but when we are throwing out so much of it - it's just being wasteful.

Instead, I'm back to planning meals that we actually really love and enjoy!  Here's the plan for the coming week.

Friday - Joshua is heading off to a winter retreat so it will just be Nate with Darryl and I.  I think we might treat Nate to dinner tonight.

Saturday - We are going to my mom's for dinner.  Our Saturdays/weekends have been busier so we don't always get to my mom's on Saturday.  We do still try to get together at least once a week but it doesn't always work out.  We all enjoy those dinners though so I try to keep them a priority when I can!

Sunday - I plan to have a roast in the crock pot along with some baked potatoes to eat once we get home from church.

Monday - Monday night also is a crock pot night or at least a meal that I can make and eat at 5:00 but then Darryl can eat at 6:00!  I plan to make a batch of crock pot fajita's for this very reason.

Tuesday - Our Tuesday nights are even busier.  I take Josh to drums, come home and have about 30 minutes to eat dinner before I head back out with Nate to guitar.  So, again, dinner has to be simple and quick.  I plan on making Hamburger Strogenoff with noodles.  It is quick and easy and so tasty!

Wednesday - It is Darryl's birthday!  Joshua and Nate have youth group so I'm plan to take Darryl out to dinner :-)

Thursday - We are celebrating Darryl's birthday tonight so he gets to pick!

Weekly Menu

Even my weekly menu posts have been boring lately because of the Dinnerly program!  I'm trying to get back into a groove of blogging but January is a little bit of a reset month AND we were buried under the end of the semester so it was school, school, and more school!  February is here now though and we are currently ahead in school and things are just a little bit slower right now so many I can get back on track!  I always feel like January is the longest month of the year but not this year!  It flew right by.  I think it might be because the weather was super mild until this past week.

Friday - We are back into the full swing of Friday School.  I saw a post from a group I follow and they shared a meal they had which looked good (and is easy).  So I think we will have sloppy joes, macaroni salad, and fruit.

Saturday - Today we are attending a "Game and Tame Dinner" at our church.  We are not fans of the "game" portion (but I might try a few things) so I'm making Dr. Pepper Meatballs with beef (the "tame" part of the meal) so we will have something good to eat HA!

Sunday - Crock Pot Fajitas - I love these because I can put them in the crock pot before we leave in the morning and they should be all ready to eat when we get home.

Monday - We eat in shifts on Monday night so I try to plan something that can sit on the stove and be warmed up as needed.  Meatball Soup fits the bill along with some crusty French Bread.

Tuesday - It is Dinnerly time!  Pulled Chicken Tacos

Wednesday - It is Dinnerly time and Joshua and Nate will eat at Youth Group. It's BBQ Pork Sandwiches

Thursday - Another Dinnerly Meal - this one is steak and fries.  We have found that the steak is a little tough just to cook it up as steak so I'll probably throw it in the crock to cook low and slow and then cook up the potatoes - more like roast and potatoes :-)

Weekly Menu - January is done

2023 is flying HA!  January is already done :-)  Things pick up a little this week with our co-op on Friday.  Plus my guys will be gone at a winter retreat this weekend.

Friday - Pork Lo Mein with carrots and scallions (Dinnerly)  I'll be honest - first day of homeschool co-op + sending my guys off to camp means a very busy day.  I'm not sure if dinner will actually be this or if we will grab take out.  I might be "done" by the time I get home.

Saturday - Darryl and I are going to enjoy a date day with some shopping, dinner and, who knows, maybe a movie

Sunday - There are a few options today depending on when my guys are expected home.  We might stay in town and eat lunch while we wait; maybe go home and cook the Pork Lo Mein; maybe grab take out and go home.  I'm flexible :-)

Monday - I think I might have a dinnerly menu or two that are hold overs from last week so I plan to cook that up.  If not I will just make some baked tacos.

Tuesday - Dinnerly

Wednesday - Dinnerly

Thursday - Dinnerly

Weekly Menu

I'm enjoying our quieter weeks.  It is part of what I enjoy so much about winter.  We are snuggled in and just enjoying being home and not feeling so rushed.  It also makes cooking a little more enjoyable.

Friday - This is our last Friday before Co-op gets started so I think I'll actually cook!  Homemade Lasagna, green beans, and Garlic Bread

Saturday - Joshua and Nate, along with other friends from a Co-op, are doing a community service project working a pancake dinner so that is where we will eat too!

Sunday - Beef Tips and Noodles.  I'm really liking having Sunday Lunch cooking in the crock pot while we are at church.  It makes it so much easier to walk in the door and eat when it is already done!

Monday - Sausage and Tortellini Soup and French Bread

Tuesday - Sauce Skillet Chicken with broccoli and egg noodles (Dinnerly)

Wednesday - Josh and Nate have youth group and eat there.

Thursday - Katzu-Glazed Turkey Meatloaves with mashed sweet potatoes (Dinnerly) for the guys and I am going out to dinner with my Sunday School Class.

Weekly Menu

This will be week 2 of Dinnerly.  This year I'm trying to be more selective in the recipes to make sure we will actually use them.  I'm also looking at a variety - last year it seemed like the recipes were all the same and not that enjoyable.

Friday - Tonight is our make-up Presentation Night which was supposed to be in November but was delayed due to a snow storm.  We will eat there.

Saturday - Dinner at my mom's

Sunday - Chili and Fritos.  This is a favorite after church dinner as it is ready when we get home - no waiting!

Monday - Baked Tacos and a Salad

Tuesday - Shrimp Fajita Bowl with rice and sour cream (Dinnerly)

Wednesday - Baked POpcorn Chicken, smashed potatoes and green beans (Dinnerly)

Thursday - Steak Frites (Dinnerly)
