Sunday Worship - You Saved the Day

This is one of my all time favorite Easter Songs.  Such a powerful set of words!

Our Week in Photos #15

Finally!  I feel like between lack of photos and lack of time on Friday evening I haven't been able to get this post up the last few weeks!  So, here's a look back!

This was actually over a week ago.  We had been out running errands; when we got home I told the boys they didn't have to do regular school work IF they played a board game together.  They happily agreed and played "No Stress Chess" . . .for well over an hour.  Yes, the never ending chess game!
This guy is fitting right in!  Dash is a great addition to our family.
This happened on Sunday.  Yep.  A Snow storm.  We ended up with a good 3-4 very wet inches of snow by the time it was done.

We FINALLY made it to a field trip with our online school.  It was the annual bowling trip in April.  Josh's teacher showed up as a surprise because she LOVES him.  He is her favorite (she tells me that all the time).  She's had a tough year and told us that if it wasn't for Josh, she wouldn't have made it through the year - he brings her joy every time she talks to him.  That's pretty special.

Dash has finally warmed up to Darryl.  As with any rescue dog, you don't always know their backgrounds.  We have figured out that Dash had someone in his life - an adult male most likely - that wasn't nice to him so he is a little standoffish with men (and adults in general).  He adores the kids - all kids.  Darryl was super patient with Dash, treated him with kindness, and now, he loves sitting with him.

On Wednesday both boys had to see the dentist to have a baby tooth pulled that was refusing to fall out.

Friday night we attended our Good Friday service.  My mom is also here for the weekend!  I'm looking forward to the holiday weekend.  Next week we are looking at mostly school :-)

Good Friday

Today we observe Good Friday.  It's the day we remember what Jesus did for us.  It wasn't the end of the story though.

When I was looking for a verse to share, I found this "schedule" and found it slightly thought provoking.  We can easily get lost in the hours and minutes of the day but maybe taking a moment to think through what Jesus went through on Crucifixion day is something we should do - it's sobering.

Weekly Menu - a Day Early

Welcome to another week of menu planning!!!  Nothing super exciting just trying to remember to plan :-)

Friday - Tacos.  We have a Good Friday Service to attend so I want dinner quick and easy

Saturday - My mom will be here and she likes to treat us so I think we are going out for Chicken Dinner (aka as KFC!)

Sunday - Easter!  Ham, Cheesy Potatoes, Green Beans, Jello Salad, Coleslaw and Crescent Rolls.

Monday - Ham and Cheesy Potatoes, Green Beans, and Salad

Tuesday - Cheesy Broccoli Soup and Leftover Ham, Crescents, Salad

Wednesday - BBQ Cups and Fries

Thursday - Grammy's Swiss Steak, Mashed Potatoes, Corn and Salad

And a Recap from last week:

Friday - Eat out - and that's just what Darryl and I did :-)

Saturday - Dinner at my mom's - and that's what we did!

Sunday - At my mom's - well, we had to come home Saturday night due to the weather forecast BUT there was enough dinner left over from Saturday that we are eating leftovers thanks to my mom!

Monday - Chicken Brunch Ring - Nope :-) I ended up making Sloppy Joes.  We run in different directions on Monday so making something we can eat in shifts is good.

Tuesday - Chicken Enchilada Casserole - Nope :-)  I didn't feel like cooking HA!  Well, at least not making a casserole.  I just made Spaghetti and heated up leftover Sloppy Joes.

Wednesday - We were going to eat out but we ate out on Monday for lunch so instead, I made Chicken Enchilada Casserole :-)

What I'm Reading - BBH Book Club

Like I mentioned in yesterdays post, I haven't been reading a whole lot and here's the proof.  This is what I've read since the last time I posted.

This is book two to the book Beartown.  Beartown was one of the best books I had read in a long time so I had high hopes for book 2.  It was almost as good.  I felt like their were too many story lines so instead of really investing a few, there were short clips on each story.  It still made me mad though so that's good HA!  It also helped to wrap up some of the stories from the first book too.  It is a hard read though between some strong language and the story lines.
This is our Book Club book.  It was another really good book and the ending - well, I did not see it coming.  I did end up skipping over some of the fluff though.  But all in all it was a good read.
This is a crazy suspense novel and it kept me on the edge through the whole book!!  I picked it up for free on Kindle Unlimited and it did not disappoint!!

I'm behind on reading for the BBH Book Club - here is where I should be:

Week 12 - A Book with North, South, East or West in the Title
Week 13 - A Book Published in 2019
Week 14 - A book set in the mountains or wilderness.

I've been focused on a project in my dining room but, hopefully that will be done this week and I can focus more on reading!  Plus, summer is coming!!

What I'm Watching

I haven't been reading a lot lately (I need to get back into that groove!) so I thought I'd share what I'm enjoying on TV.

Yes, I still enjoy The Pioneer Woman.  Her shows are always enjoyable and her food is good too.  It's on my Bucket List to stay at her Hotel and visit her little town.
I don't watch a lot of primetime shows but this is one that I watched when it first came out and it sucked me in.  Nope, it's not for everyone but so are it hasn't made me NOT want to watch it.  (There was another show I started out watching but it slowly turned me off to it with it's story lines that just went to far)
Guys Grocery Games is always fun - partly just because of Guy.  I also enjoy watching his show "Diners, Drive-in's and Dives"
Yep, still a Property Brothers fan :-)  I'll watch any of their shows - I really like the ones they do when they compete against each other each redoing a house.
I love this show.  It got pulled off the air a few weeks ago because one of its stars was arrested in a college tuition scam and was fired by Halmark.  BUT it's coming back May 5th and I can't wait!
Thanks to the Christmas Movies, I've learned to love the Halmark Movie Channel.  It's one of my favorites.  I love it that all the movies are "wholesome" so I can watch them with my boys.

Darryl and I used to watch Survivor every season but then we got tired of it.  I love to have stuff on my DVR to watch when nothing else is on at night and everyone else is asleep.  One thing I love about watching this on DVR is that I can watch the first 25 minutes and see the challenges.  Then I fast forward to the end and watch to see who gets voted off and miss all the bickering back and forth in the middle!
And I'm so excited because The Amazing Race is coming back THIS WEEK!  Darryl and I have watched every season - we love to watch them travel the world!  I cannot wait to start watching this show!

Most of what I watch is on the DVR.  I love all of the season baking shows/contests, Kids baking contests, and Worst Cook shows too.

Happy Birthday Dad!

Today is my Dad's 76th birthday.  As much as we wish we could celebrate with him here on earth, I know that he gets a much better celebration daily in Heaven.  That doesn't change the fact that we miss him!

One of the "traditions" we had started was meeting my parents for dinner on or around my dad's birthday so the boys could give Papa hugs and their gifts.  Now, in honor of my dad, we eat Ice Cream!  See he loved Ice Cream - especially from Uncle Rays, a local ice cream place where he lived.  Now, I just try to make sure at some point throughout the day, we enjoy an ice cream treat in honor of celebrating my Dad's birthday and sharing memories together.

Happy Birthday Dad!
