Our Week in Photos week #11 (for real!)

Sorry my post went up last week without any photos :-)  Truth be told, I don't think I took any photos last week so it wouldn't have matter. HA!

We spent the first half of our week concentrating on school.  It's been pretty quiet.  But, we did have some things at the end of our week!

On Thursday we went to a field trip that was actually held at a medical office.  It was "A Walk through the Nervous System" and each session was taught but a nurse or doctor.  There were five different sessions (about 25 minutes each).  The boys enjoyed it and were even able to share information with Darryl at dinner about what they learned.

One of the sessions was on the senses.  They got to taste bitter, sweet, salty, ect and identify it.
They also had to put their hand in a box and figure what things were by touch.
The next session was on the brain.  There were lamb brains that they could actually touch (Gross HA).  This was probably the most interesting session - the Doctor who led it was a great teacher.
They also learned how a cell works to transmits information to the cell body.  I think the enjoyed this one because they got to shoot these popper guns HA!

Friday was our last day of Friday school.  Our main photos are from Tae Kwon Do testing.

Josh earned his Green Belt and Nate earned his Orange Belt.  They worked super hard to get to this point and it really showed!

So, that's our week.

Weekly Menu

Last weeks menu did not go as planned.  We just ended up with some different things going on which changed my plans :-)  This weekend my Mom is coming which will be fun.

Here's the plan:

Friday - We are going to Pizza Hut :-)  After a long day of Friday School, Pizza Hut will be a nice treat.

Saturday - It's St. Patrick's Day weekend so we are going to have our annual St. Patrick's Day meal on Saturday :-)  Stuffed Cabbage in the Crock Pot, Crash Potatoes, Mac and Cheese, and Layered Jello with Green Pudding for dessert.

Sunday - We are either going to get KFC or we will have Pulled Pork, Potato Salad, and Chips and Dip.

Monday - Chicken Enchiladas, Rice and Beans, and Salad

Tuesday - Broccoli Cheese Soup (Ok, I cheat and buy Panara soup at the store) and Ham.  Such a tasty combination and so easy!

Wednesday - Corn Dogs and Mac and Cheese

Thursday - It's piano night.  Dinner is hard to do because of timing.  I am planning Scalloped Potatoes and Pork chops in the crock pot so it can be ready whenever we can eat.

Origami Week 6

We are down to our last few weeks of Origami class!  This past week we made this fun project:

I found this idea over at Make and Takes and just thought it looked super fun.  Now, the reality.  I did make one at home and couldn't get it to just "snap together".  Mine kept flipping out so I used some small pieces of tape to hold it together.  I used regular Origami paper which is super thin.  It came out pretty decent.  I gave my class the option to pick some thin scrapbook paper but it wasn't as thin as Origami paper.  That made this starburst more difficult to fold and put together.  They ended up looking a little like Statue of Liberty Crowns.  Plus, the students didn't fold perfectly so their points were not, well, on point.  In end this did not turn out to be my favorite project but it did take the entire hour!

Oops . . .

So, my little secret, so I don't forget my ideas is that I schedule posts often a month in advance.  Well, the past few days it has backfired on me!  I didn't get photos up on Friday night for Saturday's post and today's post was also empty!

I'll get back on track but, it is late on Monday night after a busy day of school, Tae Kwon Do, and Choir practice so it will be Wednesday before you see a new post!

This is real life :-)

Weekly Worship - I'd Need A Savior

I was traveling towards Lansing recently and had to switch Radio Stations from my normal "WCSG" to Family Life Radio.  While I love my 91.3 favorite - an advantage to switching stations that I often hear songs that I've never heard before since each station plays a variety of music based on demographics.  Anyway, this song came on right after I switched over and I just really enjoyed it so I thought I would share it with you too!

Weekly Menu

Last weeks menu went out the window.  I'm not sure what happened other than our plans kept changing so our meals kept changing.  Oh well.  Some weeks are like that and that's ok :-)  Plus, last week I wasn't into going to the store HA!  So I tried to use up things we had at home and just made quick runs to the store.  So what's in store this week (if I go to the store LOL) ?  Here's the plan.

Friday - Breakfast - French Toast Sticks, Sausage/Bacon, and Hashbrowns

Saturday - I'm going scrapbooking today.  I'm leaving Corn Dogs and Chicken Nuggets for the boys and Darryl to cook up for dinner.

Sunday - Stuffed Shells, Green Beans and Garlic Bread

Monday - BBQ Cups and Fries/tater tots

Tuesday - BBQ Spare Ribs, Potatoes, asparagus, and Rolls

Wednesday: Our normal AWANA Routine - I cook something simple for the boys and I enjoy something simple after I drop them off.

Thursday - Chili and Rolls
